Comic Book Trade Association
Comic book publishers in the UK form a trade association – Comicsbeat

Judging by the article on this move, there are strong reasons for the association to exist. One reason is to analyze the actual full value of the comic book publishers to the overall UK economic picture, another is to use that weight effectively for the benefit (and protection) of the comic book publishers in the UK, and lastly, and this is the protection part, what to do about generative AI.
Speaking of AI:
Comic Book Brain has always had one position on AI: legally require that AI programmers prove a "clean room" use of legitimate licensed and public domain sources. Regular software development requires this, typically, why is AI left out of this responsibility of establishing what's going into the programming and where it came from?
The idea is there should be an audit trail to protect everybody, from the AI makers to the companies that contribute to the AI. Compensating artists and authors of written works that are licensed might involve money, but it might also involve nothing more than acknowledgement, depending upon the kind of agreement made.
But AI is quickly assuming a size and shape that unwrapping what all has been tossed into the mixing bowl is going to be impossible, and at some point someone is going to break through with a court case showing a lot of copyright infringement, and then it's going to get really fascinating, because as clever as software programmers are, trial lawyers can be a lot cleverer.
