DC/Marvel Comics Collection projected to auction at £30,000 – MSN Nottinghamshire

Another includes a group of ‘New Mutants’ Marvel Comics (1990-1991), illustrated by Rob Liefeld, which shows the first appearance of the Deadpool superhero. The impressive selection also has some zines featuring the earliest drawings of the character Cable and is expected to go for around £350. An incomplete 236-volume run of first edition hardback books of the Marvel: The Ultimate Graphic Novels Collection is expected to fetch around £400

Pattinson’s The Batman movie topped BBFC [British Board of Film Classifications] in generating complaints

Robert Pattinson’s The Batman and The Lady Of Heaven, a controversial film about the daughter of the Prophet Muhammad, were the subject of the most complaints lodged with the British Board of Film Classification (BBFC) in 2022, according to the body’s annual report. Out of 84 total complaints regarding ratings, The Batman received 22 concerning its 15 rating. The BBFC said the majority of complaints were lodged before the film’s release or from children under 15. Complainants felt that the classification was too restrictive and would prevent younger children who would like to see the film from watching it at the cinema, the report states.

The biggest reason as to why The Dark Knight highlights the stale nature of superhero filmmaking in recent years is simply because it is still the high bar that superhero movies attempt to surpass. Despite releasing 15 years ago, The Dark Knight remains the best Batman movie ever made, and one of if not the best superhero films of all time. This largely comes from the way Nolan crafted a suspenseful, thrilling, tense story with the skin of a Batman film.

The "best" superhero film is a tricky subject and betrays the picker's biases. The Dark Knight is a safe pick, but you could also go with Unbreakable or Captain America Winter Soldier (or Civil War) as long as you've got the rationale to back up the choice, as these four films are pretty different from one another. The "best" superhero film hasn't been made yet is likely the best answer. The Dark Knight, however, might be the best Batman film yet, despite that no Batman film yet made has been a pure transfer of the original Bob Kane/Bill Finger/Jerry Robinson creation (and doing so is probably undoable in the current 21st century. For that matter, if the original version of Captain America was attempted, it would also be quite a clash with the society of the 21st century, which is likely why the filmmakers integrated the original "Cap" into the recent Marvel/Disney films via parody, which, in a way, was pretty clever.)

If Hollywood is going to make changes to a classic character, why don't they rename his alter-ego John Paul George Ringo and tap into the huge Beatles fanclub?

The Flash has simply sunk like a stone and Indy V is struggling but has managed to creep past a disastrous $300 million mark. This state of affairs is an incredible indictment of both Warners' and Disney's filmmaking, because there's no way a huge swath of filmgoers didn't know these movies were coming with the saturation marketing that trumpeted these films but now it has turned out a majority of ticket-buyers just don't want to see them.

The photo showing Snow White and the gang of not-dwarves looks like a very low-budget "gag' version of the faery tale story, and has been fodder for a thousand memes on social media already. That's not the kiss-of-death for a film project, but it absolutely sets a bad precendent.
