GARY FRANK ACTION COMICS
Gary Frank has been drawing the last several issues of Action Comics. His meticulous illustrative style is fascinating, beautiful stuff to look at. Action Comics has had a nice melange of talents recently drawing the book, and Frank's is the new face visualizing the perennial DC Comics star. There's sometimes a bit of a "freeze-dried" look to Frank's realistic style, but that's a problem that plagues many a page of comics' 'realism', where perfection of form and anatomy seems to knock out whatever liveliness should be in the art.
The story of this series at present seems to be a six-part story that has Superman launched into the distant 31st century, mayhem and trouble insues.
Gary Frank is thorough and steady in page after page, and I hope he hangs in there for a good long run. Notice how controlled and effective his crosshatching is.
