Jim Aparo Batman artwork fromDetective Comics #437: whatever Aparo learned from the Neal Adams style, he went with it into his own direction. For example, dramatic foreshortening of perspective is a traditional Neal Adams gimmick, but if you look at the bottom panel to this page here, Aparo uses the technique of foreshortening within the story line, versus stand-alone 'pin-up' style where usually Neal Adams would have the Batman figure alone. The economy of this as a storytelling tool (versus a pause and look at Batman's muscles, or pose) is a great enhancement to the forward motion of the story.

New Jim Aparo collection coming from DC Comics. Hope it includes the run of Archie Goodwin-penned tales form the mid-seventies. Cover of the book (as advertised so far) is a recoloring of the art Aparo did for the cover of Brave and the Bold 111. See it at 1400 pixels here.
