Big Barda

Big Barda is from the planet Apokolips (as is her partner Mister Miracle). In the original storyline, she was trained to be a warrior at the Home for Orphaned Youth, a place she was forced into after being abducted from her mother "Big Breeda."

After later relocating to earth with Mister Miracle, Barda directed a defense program for women in New York City.

Most recent renditions of the character place her (and Mister Miracle) in the Justice League.

The character was created by Jack Kirby.

Justice League - Big Barda: The Ties that Bind

The episode "The Ties that Bind" was written by longtime comic book artist/writer Steranko. Ironically, it is said by Kirby that he used Steranko (who had a career as a magician) as a model in some ways for the original design of Scott Free/Mister Miracle in the eary 1970s.
