Amazing Spider-Man

May 11, 2014: Deadline Hollywood speculated that the numbers for Spider-Man 2 in its second weekend (domestic) weren't doing so well ($36 - $37 million estimated), and was in the process of getting beaten by the competition of Neighbors ($51 million) which is in it's opening weekend. Even if Peter Parker isn't doing well domestically (though it's quite possible Sony will announce better numbers come Monday), Spidey is moving ahead overseas and may have a worldwide cume of $550,900,000 so far. That puts it within range of eventually nailing a number comparable to Amazing Spider-Man #1. On the downside, this means Amazing I nor II will reach the higher numbers that Spidey earned in the three Sam Raimi movies.

  1. Spiderman 3 (2007 Sony) $890.9 Million
  2. Spiderman (2002 Sony) $821.7 Million
  3. Spiderman 2 (2004 Sony) $783.8 Million
  4. Amazing Spider-Man (2013 Sony) $752,216,557 ($262,030,663 Domestic)

Amazing Spider-Man 2 debuts overseas

April 11: Sony has started a two-week lead-in before Amazing Spider-Man 2 hits American theaters, releasing it in Europe, Australian and Asian markets. Because Sony earned poor return on a number of big-budget films in 2013, there is a lot of hope riding on Amazing Spider-Man 2, enough that Sony already has announced sequel #3 and #4 for this rebooted series.
